Biography

God blessed Kathleen Harrell with the voice of an angel, and she has been using that voice to give Him glory since the tender age of four years old. Kathleen got her start in Alexandria Louisiana, where she sang in numerous church choirs, and in the school system; from elementary school through college. She was a member of the esteemed Southern University Concert Choir in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also trained with vocal coach Kathy Smith in Clovis, New Mexico.

Kathleen has been privileged to perform with Choral Groups across the globe, including Bibleway Church in Naples, Italy and with the Joy Dara Singers in Louisiana, along with countless other well known artists. In Houston, she sang in the choir at a music workshop where Kurt Carr was the guest clinician. She also was a soloist in another choir workshop with Derrick Monk as guest clinician.

She participated in the New Artist Showcase in Conroe, TX and was one of the award recipients. She also contributed to the praise and worship for “An Evening with Ron Brown”. Her performance with this world-renowned jazz saxophonist was what inspired her to pursue a life long dream of recording a Gospel CD.

Over the years, Kathleen allowed the Lord to grow her talents and she has today become a dynamic singer/songwriter. It has been said, that the sweet sound of her voice has touched the hearts and souls of many people. It has also been said, that the peace of the Lord penetrates the essence of the listeners hearts through her anointed music. You will be blessed by the words of encouragement, strengthened by the Spirit from the Almighty, and be propelled into freedom when listening to these inspired words through song. Her passion for praise and worship is evident by the lyrics that God has inspired her to write and record. She is truly a modern day psalmist.

Through prayer, fasting, and perseverance Kathleen’s dream of completing an album has been realized. Under the direction of Phillip Moore, with mentoring by Ron Brown, a collection of praise and worship songs that will touch your life has recently been released. The title track (“Bless You Lord”) is her personal favorite and is meant to do just that; bless the Lord. Kathleen wrote this song after a very difficult ordeal: a battle with breast cancer. Yes, she has been through a tremendous trial and knows on a personal level to bless the Lord, who is more than worthy of all our praise. All the original songs by Kathleen are inspired by the word of God and the spirit of God to encourage you.

Originally from Louisiana, she now resides in Houston, Texas with her husband Geary Harrell. God has blessed them with four beautiful children; Brian, Keldric, Gearic, and daughter Erica.

Kathleen attends the Church of Champions pastored by Dr. W.E. Hutchins II in Northwest Houston, where she is a member of the choir and praise team. Her goal is that with every breath she takes and every stroke of the pen, she is worshiping the Lord with all that is within her.
